This day starts as every other day with the exception that you will wake up to embrace one of the most magical and mystic days of your life. By the end of the day you will wonder why people are not calling you “your highness”.
Our itinerary begins with a visit to Queluz National Palace, an 18th century palace and official residence for the guests of the Portuguese Republic. Here you will experience a bit of the extravagant life of the Portuguese royalty. This palace is surrounded by some of the most beautiful gardens that are going to make you feel like you just arrived to Shangri-la.
After this, is time to head to one of the most mystical and beautiful places in Portugal - Sintra and the Pena Palace. Considered to be one of the ex- libris and wonders of Portugal, it was visited by the famous compositor Richard Strauss who said: “ …Today is the most beautiful day of my life. I’ve been in Italy, Greece and Egypt and this is the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen, this is the true garden of Klingsor and right there on the top is the castle of Holy Grail…”
We will then descend to the village for a deserved lunch break where you will have time for a short walk to enjoy the views of old houses, now converted in small quaint handicraft shops and traditional pastry shops.
Quinta da Regaleira was built in the last years of monarchy and its romantic surroundings once belonged to the viscountess of Regaleira. It is classified as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, an eccentrically decorated palace and gardens replete with grottoes, fountains, underground tunnels, caves, and numerous statues. This is a place to be felt and where you can let go and dream through its mystic and mist.
After this is time for us get back on the road and head to Cabo da Roca to visit the most western point of Europe, a place where you will experience the true power of sightseeing. And since it is time to head back to Lisbon, we are going to take a drive along one of the most beautiful roads in our beloved country the “Marginal” passing by Cascais, Estoril heading back to Lisbon with some supreise stops on our way.
